Oman grants $ 40 mln to projects in Yemen

MAHRAH, Jan.19 (Saba) - The technical
consultant of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) Mowafaq
al-Saghar has
visited Maharh province in south Yemen to coordinate with governor Mohammed Khodem
on a $ 40 million grant offered by Oman.
Speaking to Saba, al-Saghar said that the grant was allocated to build a modern
hospital in Maharah and extend sanitation and water facilities in Ghidha city.
He pointed out that Oman's grant was part of the donators' pledges at the London
Conference held in 2006, noting that the two AFESD-would-be-implemented projects
would be
set up by April.
"The allocation for the hospital is $ 25 million and $15 million for the sanitation
project", al-Saghar added.
The AFESD is an autonomous regional Pan-Arab development finance organization. Its
membership consists of all states who are members of the League of Arab States.
