YEMEN, CANADA DISCUSS BRITISH-CALL CONFERENCE ON YEMEN



OTTAWA, Jan. 19 (Saba) - Yemen and Canada discussed here on Tuesday
in the Canadian capital Ottawa the British initiative to hold
Conference on Yemen and the means to make the Canadian participation
in the conference efficiently.

Foreign Minister Abu Baker al-Qirbi and Canadian Foreign Minister
Lawrence Canon held talks on the bilateral relations and how to
enhance cooperation between the two countries.

On the other hand, al-Qirbi discussed with vice president of the
Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) the cooperation
between Yemen and the Agency through inserting Yemen among the
countries that received assistance from the Agency.

CIDA vice president indicated to the significance of standing by
Yemen and supporting the Yemeni government's efforts in the
development process.

In a press conference held in the Yemeni embassy in Ottawa, al-Qirbi
highlighted Yemen's efforts in political area and in combating the
security challenges in the country, particularly terrorism.

He pointed out to the importance of widening the Canadian investment
in Yemen.

He called on the Canadian capitals to invest in Yemen, asserting
that the government will offer all facilities and merits for them.

He also called on the international media to seek accuracy and
credibility when reporting on Yemen.

He also suggested sending journalists to Yemen to get acquainted
closely with the events.
