S. Korean Hollys Coffee opens first store in Peru
SEOUL, Jan. 19 (Yonhap) -- Hollys Coffee Co., a South Korean coffee shop chain,
has opened its first store in the Peruvian capital of Lima, the company said
Tuesday.
The company, which plans to open a second store in Lima later in the month, plans
to launch a total of eight stores in the South American country.
Hollys, which currently operates 222 outlets in South Korea, opened its first
overseas store in Los Angeles in April 2008 and its second in Malaysia two months
later.
The company plans to attract Peruvian consumers by expanding its menu that
includes Belgian waffles and South Korean beverages such as citron tea and sweet
potato latte, it said.
It hopes its Peruvian operations will generate US$6 million in sales this year.
Sales of the Seoul-based company amounted to 87.3 billion won ($77.4 million)
last year, it said.
