MALAYSIAN ARRESTED IN KARIMUM AFTER TRYING TO SMUGGLE IN NARCOTICS
Karimun, Riau Islands, Jan 19 (ANTARA) - The Tanjung Balai Karimun customs supervisory and service office personnel in Indonesia Tuesday arrested a Malaysian on suspicion of carrying narcotic drugs, including ecstasy and methyl amphytamine, locally known as shabu.
The 45-year-old Malaysian, identified as Lim Chen Huat, a passenger on Marina Baru 5 from Kukup, Malaysia, had been arrested after his suitcase was found to contain the contraband after being placed under X-ray in the arrivals room, a source said.
In the course of the search, he tried to leave the suitcase, but security personnel managed to stop him.
At least five security personnel had conducted the search, and later found pills and which turned out ecstasy tablets and shabu in plastic bags.
Head of the customs and immigration service Zul Achir Siregar confirmed Lim`s arrest for trying to smuggle in narcotic drugs.
