FOURTEEN FOREIGN FISHERMEN DETAINED IN AMBON
Ambon, Maluku, Jan 19 (ANTARA) - Maluku provincial police have detained 14 crew members of foreign flagged trawls for breaking Indonesian immigration regulations.
Director of Maluku Police`s Intelligence and Security Senior Commissioner Juhartana told reporters here Tuesday that they consisted of seven Thais and seven Myanmarese.
"They were arrested at Tantui fishery port and from some locals` houses in Passo village, Baguala suburb, and Wayame village, Ambon Bay suburb, over the past few days," he said.
The police accused them of violating Law No.9/1992 on Immigration after finding that they had no legal immigration documents, he said.
The police would hand them over to local immigration officers for further investigation, he added.
