S Korea aims for 70,000 health tourists in 2010

By Nam Kwang-sik

SEOUL, Jan. 20 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's state tourism agency said Wednesday that it is aiming to attract 70,000 health tourists this year, more than double the number of last year's medical tourists visiting the country.

The state-run Korean Tourism Organization (KTO) will hold the country's medical
tour programs to potential tourists to South Korea via foreign media, the company
said.
KTO will also expand its one-stop service center for medical tours located in
Incheon, the South Korea's main gateway, to Busan, a port city 453 kilometers
south of Seoul.
Last year, KTO attracted 29,100 health tourists from Japan, China, Russia and
Kazakhstan.
KTO is aggressively waging a public-relations campaign to lure more health
tourists through its 27 overseas branches.
KTO held a roadshow in late November, 2009 in the Vietnamese cities of Ho Chi
Minh and Hanoi.
