By Nam Kwang-sik
SEOUL, Jan. 20 (Yonhap) -- GS Engineering & Construction Co., South Korea's
fourth largest builder, said Wednesday that it has clinched a deal to build a 3.9
trillion won (US$3.4 billion) tidal power station in the country's western
coastal area.

Under the deal signed with the state-run Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., GS
Engineering will construct the power station in the sea between Gangwha Island,
50 kilometers west of Seoul, and the Incheon International Airport, the nation's
main gateway, the builder said.
Construction for the power station which will have an annual generation capacity
of 2.41 billion kilowatts, is scheduled to start in late 2011, GS Engineering
said.
Three tidal power stations are being built in the western coastal area of South
Korea.
