Namyang Dairy gets certification from Kazakh pediatricians

SEOUL, Jan. 20 (Yonhap) -- Namyang Dairy Products Co., South Korea's No.2
manufacturer of milk products, said Wednesday that its three milk powder products
have been officially certified by pediatricians in Kazakhstan.

A Kazak association of pediatricians has permitted the company to use the
organization's logo on the packaging and in commercials for the products. It is
also recommending Namyang's products to maternities and children's hospitals in
the Central Asian country.
With the certification, Namyang plans to take part in an open bidding by the
Kazakh government in March 2010 to select a sole supplier of powdered milk to
obstetric and pediatric clinics in the nation.
Namyang obtained the certification within six months of its entry into the Kazakh
market while other major milk powder sellers including global food giant Nestle
SA have not been officially certified by the association, a Namyang official
said.
