FIVE PEOPLE BELIEVED BURIED BY LANDSLIDE IN JAVA
Wonosobo, Central Java, Jan. 20 (ANTARA) - One person was killed and four others are believed to have been buried by a landslide that happened at Wonoaji hamlet, Sitieng village, Wonosobo district, Indonesia, on Wednesday.
The landslide which occurred at 11.30 am local time following heavy rains also injured five people and hit nine houses, according to Agus Purnomo, a spokesman of the Wonosobo district administration.
The dead victim was identified as Zainudin (54). The five injured residents were rushed to the nearest community health center at Kejajar.
Of the nine affected houses, four were completely leveled to the ground, and the other five were seriously damaged.
Elsewhere in Wonosobo district, another landslide happened causing a section at KM 18 of the road to Dieng to be covered in soil and rocks so that traffic on the road was halted.
