Subaru brand to enter S. Korea in May

SEOUL, Jan. 21 (Yonhap) -- Japan's Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., the maker of
Subaru brand cars, will begin selling three Subaru models in South Korea in May,
a local importer said Thursday.

Subaru will join four other Japanese automakers -- Toyota Motor Corp., Honda
Motor Co., Nissan Motor Co. and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. -- in South Korea's
recovering market for imported cars, according to Subaru Korea Co, which was
financed 100 percent by local car dealer Korea Sangsa Co.
From May, Subaru will start selling its Outback crossover wagon, Legacy sedan and
Forester sport-utility vehicle in South Korea, said officials of Subaru Korea in
a Seoul press briefing.
South Korea's market for imported cars is likely to grow about 20 percent from
last year to 74,000 units this year, the Korea Automobile Importers &
Distributors Association said earlier.
