Sixth Korea-Spain forum opens in Cordoba

SEOUL, Jan. 21 (Yonhap) -- The sixth Korea-Spain forum opened in the Spanish city
of Cordoba on Thursday to discuss various topics that include the promotion of
gender equality and bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the
political and defense sectors, South Korean organizers of the forum said.
The two-day forum will also focus on economic cooperation between South Korea and
Spain, as well as Korea and the European Union, the Korea Foundation said in a
press release.
"The outcome of the forum, to be held in four different sessions, will be
presented to the governments of the two countries and their related offices for
future reference in their decision-making processes," it said.
A group of 19 South Korean officials and experts, including Rep. Park Sang-eun of
the ruling Grand National Party and Park Chul, head of Hankuk University of
Foreign Studies, will be taking part in the joint sessions along with 21
officials and scholars from Spain.
Co-hosted by the South Korean organization and Spain's Casa Asia, the forum has
been held since 2003 to help promote better relations and establish
future-oriented ties between the two countries, the Korea Foundation said.
