FMs of S. Korea, Paraguay call for better ties


SEOUL, Jan. 21 (Yonhap) -- South Korean Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan and
Paraguay's Foreign Minister Hector Lacognata agreed Thursday to improve their
countries' bilateral ties, especially in economic cooperation in the sectors of
agriculture and IT, Seoul's foreign ministry said.
The agreement came in a bilateral meeting here held shortly after Lacognata's
visit with Prime Minister Chung Un-chan.
"The foreign ministers of the two countries expressed satisfaction that the
bilateral relationship between their countries has significantly improved since
it was established in 1962 and agreed to further strengthen and expand the ties
between the countries," the ministry said in a press release.
Yu and the Paraguay's foreign minister especially agreed to improve the
countries' ties in the agricultural and IT sectors, it said.
Lacognata's visit here came after his trip last week to Tokyo, where both he and
his South Korean counterpart attended the Forum for East Asia-Latin America
Cooperation.
