Kia Motors resumes production after wage deal with union

SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Yonhap) -- Kia Motors Corp., South Korea's second-largest automaker, said Friday it resumed production at its plants across the nation after reaching an agreement with unionized workers over a wage deal.

On Thursday, the carmaker's union voted for the wage agreement which freezes
basic salaries for this year in return for a one-time payout of 5 million won
(US$4,400) plus a 300 percent bonus for each worker.
Workers at Kia Motors, an affiliate of Hyundai Motor Co., have been staging a
partial strike since early last week.
