KIWANIS MALAYSIA TO HELP RAISE UNICEF FUNDS FOR HAITI CHILDREN
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 (Bernama) -- Kiwanis Malaysia has joined hands with the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) to raise RM100,000 (US$29,450) for suffering children in quake-hit Haiti.

Youssouf Oomar said, a safe place for 1,000 children had been identified and
the funds would be used to provide them with clean water, nutritious food and
temporary school, medical aid, sanitation and shelter materials.
"Education is the best way to protect children and it is a powerful
instrument to move themselves forward to a better life in the future," he said
during presentation of cheques totalling RM80,000 (US$23,560), from the Kiwanis
Kepong Club,
Yap Kim Huat Sdn Bhd and Pandan Jaya Kiwanis for the fund.
Potential donors can check www.unicef.org/malaysia or www.kiwanis.org.my to
enquire about contributions.
Kiwanis will also provide a box in every branch to collect donations.
