GS Engineering`s net profit rises 0.6 pct in 2009

SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Yonhap) -- GS Engineering & Construction Co., South Korea's
fourth-largest builder, said Friday that its net profit rose 0.6 percent in 2009
from a year ago thanks to increased overseas orders.
Net income came to 383.8 billion won (US$333 million) last year, compared with
381.6 billion won a year ago, GS Engineering said in a regulatory filing.
Sales rose 7.5 percent on-year to 7.38 trillion won in 2009 and operating profit
jumped 19 percent to 569 billion won.
Shares of GS Engineering fell 2.35 percent to 99,600 won as of 11:44 a.m. on the
Seoul bourse.
New orders rose 5.15 percent year-on-year to 12.86 trillion won last year, GS
Engineering said.
The builder is aiming for 7.58 trillion won in sales and 595 billion won in
operating profit in 2010, while targeting 14.12 billion won in new orders, up 9.8
percent from last year.
The builder also forecasts operating profit to come to 655 billion won with sales
amounting to 8.41 trillion won in 2011, while aiming for 815 billion won in
operating profit and 10.16 trillion won in sales in 2012.
