G-20 finance ministers` meeting due in June, October in S. Korea

SEOUL, Jan, 22 (Yonhap) -- The finance ministers and the heads of central banks
from the world's 20 major economies will gather in South Korea in June and
October ahead of the November summit of their leaders here, a South Korean
presidential organization said Friday.
The organizing committee for the G-20 economic summit to be held in Seoul in
November announced that it picked the southern port city of Busan as the venue
for the June session and the ancient city of Gyeongju, some 370km south of Seoul,
for the October conference.
"Through advices from experts and consultations among relevant ministries, (we)
selected the venues in consideration of various factors including the size and
characteristics of the meetings, access to airport, conference and lodging
facilities," the committee said in a press release.
It added more than 1,000 officials and reporters are expected to attend each
meeting.
A forum of vice finance ministers from the 20 nations is scheduled to open in the
western city of Incheon late next month, with the second session to be held in
Gwangju, 330km south of Seoul, in September according to the committee.
