BMKG : TROPICAL STORM MAGDA TO AFFECT MANY PARTS OF RI

Jakarta, Jan 22 (ANTARA) - The Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued a warning to the public about the effect of tropical storm Magda on certain parts of Indonesia in the period January 22-25, 2010.

BMKG said Magda which was occurring above waters south of Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, and a low pressure area southeast of Merauke, Papua, would lead to a concentration of winds over an area stretching over the Java sea, the Bali Sea, West Nusa Tenggara, the Banda Sea and the Arafura sea.

The process would eventually lead to the formation of clouds over the southern parts of Indonesia.

According to BMKG, several areas in Indonesia were likely to experience have heavy rain followed by strong winds and thunder on January 22-25. The areas would include the central and eastern parts of Sumatra island, the west coast of Sumatra island and the southern parts of Kalimantan island.

Also to see the same weather conditions would be Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi, western and northern parts of Java island, the southern part of Sulawesi island, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Southeast Maluku as well as central and southern parts of Papua island.***
