JAKARTA STOCKS TRADE WEAKER
Jakarta, Jan. 22 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) got off to a weak start here on Friday morning on sale-offs.
The BEI index declined 35.528 points or 1.35 percent to 2,602.017 points, and the LQ-45 index fell 7.813 points to 510,530.
Restriction in bank note trading in the United States triggered foreign investors to sell their shares causing the overnight Dow Jones index to fall two percent, according to Michael Andi Surya, a research analyst of PT Valbury Asia Securities.
"We are optimistic that the Dow Jone index will continue to fall and pressure the BEI index to weaken to the level of below 2,600 points," he said.
Among top losers at the BEI were Astra International shares that weaken Rp900 to Rp34,300, Indo Tambang Mega shares that fell Rp700 to Rp32,650, United Tractor shares that declined Rp350 to Rp17,300 and Gudang Garam shares that lost Rp300 to Rp23,700.
Bukit Asam shares plunged Rp300 to Rp17,400, Indosat shares lost Rp100 to Rp5,250, Telkom shares declined Rp100 to Rp9,300, and Astra Agr Lestari shares that slumped Rp200 to Rp24,500.***
