Bag carrying 100 million won snatched by two robbers on motorcycle
SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Yonhap) -- A bag containing 100 million won (US$87,000) in cash
was snatched by two men on a motorcycle from a security guard in southern Seoul
on Friday morning, police said, adding they are searching for the suspects.
The two men, believed to be in their 20-30s, robbed the security guard while he
was transporting the cash from a security vehicle to a nearby automatic teller
machine located inside the Express Bus Terminal in Seocho-gu, according to police
officers at the Seocho Police Station.
Witnesses said the two were dressed completely in black -- one with a helmet and
the other whose face was covered with mask. The two fled on motorcycle
immediately after the robbery.
Considering the amount of money and deliberate criminal act at an exact timing,
Investigators suspect that the suspects had a clear knowledge of the security
firm's internal procedures.
Police said they are searching for the two based on testimony given by eye
witnesses and will analyze video footage of their robbery taken by closed-circuit
television (CCTV) near the crime scene.
In July of last year, a 36-year-old man identified by his surname Ahn drove off
with cash transport vehicle carrying some 450 million won. He later turned
himself in to the police one day after they launched an open investigation in
August.
