FM-Afghan conference

SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Yonhap) -- South Korean Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan will
travel to London next week for an international conference on Afghanistan, at
which foreign ministers and officials from some 60 countries will discuss ways to
help rebuild the war-torn nation, the foreign ministry said Friday.

Minister Yu will leave Seoul on Sunday as part of the entourage of President Lee
Myung-bak, who will make a weeklong trip to India and Switzerland, the ministry
said.
After accompanying Lee on his Swiss trip, Yu will fly to the British capital
Wednesday for the conference on Afghanistan.
"The upcoming conference on Afghanistan will be an opportunity to remind the
world of the need to help rebuild the country, while also allowing the country to
ease the international community's concerns about high levels of corruption
there," the minister said in a press briefing.
