POLICE ARREST TWO MORE ATM SCAM SUSPECTS
Jakarta, Jan 22 (ANTARA) - The police again arrested two suspects in connection with theft of bank customers' money through automatic teller machines (ATM) in Pontianak, West Kalimantan.
"That's right. The police have arrested two suspects in Pontianak," the national police's chief chief detective, Commissioner General Ito Sumardi, confirmed on Friday.
He did not mention the identities of the suspects nor their initials because Ito was just attending a meeting when contacted by phone.
He said the two suspects were not linked to the theft of bank customers' money through ATM in Denpasar, Bali.
A special national police team led by Brigadier General Radja Erizman had also arrested a suspect known by his initial as F, believed to be a member of a theft syndicate targeting ATMs.
From him the police confiscated Rp23 million in cash money, a computer unit, several ATM cards and a skimmer.
Until now the police were still gathering initial evidence for further investigating the case which has been rife in the country recently, and arresting the suspects.
A number of customers in Bali recently reported the loss of their savings in Bank Mandiri, BCA, BII, Bank Permata, BRI and BNI to the police.
