S. Korea seeks to hold G-20 summit Nov. 15: officials

SEOUL, Jan. 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korea was seeking to hold a summit of the Group
of 20 advanced and emerging economies on Nov. 15, right after a summit of the
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Japan, government officials
said Monday.

Given the busy schedules of the leaders and officials of the G-20 countries, it
would be timely to hold the summit on Nov. 15, according to them. The APEC summit
is to be held in Yokohama from Nov. 13-14.
"The leaders of the G-20 countries will be able to attend the Seoul summit right
after the APEC meeting," said an official at the finance ministry. "We are
preparing for the G-20 summit on such scenario."
In September last year, leaders from the G-20 developed and developing nations
agreed to hold their summit in Canada in June this year, followed by another in
South Korea in November.
Another official said the Convention & Exhibition Center (COEX) in Seoul is the
likely venue for the summit.
