(LEAD) Doosan Heavy wins 1.2 tln won order from India

SEOUL, Jan. 25 (Yonhap) -- Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., South
Korea's biggest power-equipment maker, said Monday it has received a 1.2 trillion
won (US$1.1 billion) order from India.
Under the deal with GMR Energy Ltd., Doosan Heavy will build a coal power plant
in Raipur, India.
In a separate regulatory filing, Doosan Heavy said it will provide equipment
worth of 859 billion won to its Indian unit, Doosan Projects India PVT, for the
project.
In 2007, Doosan Heavy also won a $1.22 billion order to build a power plant in
Mundra in the western Indian state of Gujarat.
Shares of Doosan Heavy were trading at 94,900 won on the Seoul bourse as of 10:12
a.m., up 0.53 percent.
