PRESIDENT GIVES DIRECTIVES AT TNI LEADERSHIP MEETING

Jakarta, Jan 25 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono here Monday gave directives at a National Defense Forces (TNI) leadership meeting at the TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta.

The head of state arrived at the TNI Headquarters at about 10 on Monday morning in the company of Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Minister/State Secretary Susi Silalahi, TNI Chief Gen Djoko Santoso, State Minister for State Enterprises Mustafa Abubakar, and Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

The TNI Leadership Meeting 2010 was themed "By Improving Integrated Three-Dimensional Capability, the TNI Will Always Be Ready to Uphold National Sovereignty and Maintain the Security and Integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI)."
Meanwhile, TNI Chief Djoko Santoso said the meeting was held to evaluate the 2009 work programs and determine the TNI's policy for its 2010 work program.

In addition, the meeting was held to formulate the TNI's policy in Military Operations in War and Military Operations for Non-War Purposes (OMSP).

"Especially for OMSP, the TNI is determined to help step up national unity and integrity, people's welfare, and Indonesia's image in the international community," he said.

The meeting was attended by around 158 personnel from the Air Force, Navy, and Army , and a number of active TNI officers at other institutions.
