YEMEN-U.S. AGREEMENT ON NATIONAL SECURITY ISSUES

SANA'A, Jan. 25 (Saba) - Yemen can't separate the issues of the
rebellion in the far north and al Qaeda from the national security
issue, however, it must face all together and at one time, Foreign
minister Abu al-Qirbi has said.

Difference between Yemen and the U.S. about this has been bridged
during my recent visit to the U.S., he said, appreciating the U.S.
understanding of Yemen's view over dealing with the Houthi rebellion
in Saada.

The military action against the insurgents came to squeeze them to
put down their guns and come to dialog as well as implementing the
ceasefire conditions previously announced by the government, he
said.

In an interview with the state-run 26sep.net, al-Qirbi touched upon
a British-hosted Conference on Yemen set for later this week,
saying: we expect the summit comes out with, first and foremost,
developmental aid to Yemen and helping strengthening Yemen's
anti-terror capabilities.

The call for the meeting proved a real desire to help us, he said,
highlighting the significance of Yemen to the world under its
geographic location.

In reply to a question about whether a U.S. military base is
possible to be set up in the country, the minister said that all
U.S. and other warships in the region are operating through Djibouti
but not Yemen.
