Tehran to host intl. poster exhibit on children’s cancer
TEHRAN, Jan. 25 (MNA) -- Iran’s first International Exhibition of Poster Designs will be held from January 29 to February 4 on the theme of children’s cancer.
Tehran’s Mahak Charity Society, an institute that supports Iranian children suffering from cancer, will hold the exhibit on the theme of childhood cancer and corporate social responsibility.
The Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS) decided to cooperate with Mahak as a part of its own ‘corporate social responsibility’, the director of IGDS Ebrahim Haqiqi mentioned during a press conference at the Mahak Hospital on Sunday.
He went on to say that one of the aims of poster art is to convey messages and information to addressees, so the IGDS was selected for the first edition.
“Although such social themes are not well known in Iran, graphic designers were enthusiastic about the exhibit and I am certain that the theme will be raised in the near future,” he said.
“Our goal is to acquaint graphic designers with their social responsibility. Commercial, art and cultural themes are not the only ones for designing posters but the social problems should be highlighted as well,” IGDS member Amrollah Farhadi added.
131 works were submitted to the secretary of the gala out of which 50 works by 47 artists were selected for competition, he mentioned.
Farshid Mesqali, Kamran Katuzian, Farzad Adibi, Saed Meshki, Majid Abbasi, Mostafa Asadollahi and Tahamtan Aminian are the members of jury, he said.
“Unfortunately the competition does not have any prize but the winners will be provided with the honor of sponsoring three children suffering from cancer by the MAHAK,” he mentioned.
22 posters, sent by invited participants that included Sadeq Barirani, will go on display in a special section during the event.
The Bank Melli Iran and the Iranian Graphic Designers Society cosponsored the event.
