Seoul stocks down 0.92 pct late morning

SEOUL, Jan. 26 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.92 percent lower late
Tuesday morning as weaker-than-expected fourth-quarter GDP data dampened
investors' hopes of an early recovery, analysts said.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) fell 15.34 points to
trade at 1,654.86 as of 11:20 a.m.
Foreign and institutional investors pared holdings of local equities after the
Bank of Korea said the nation's gross domestic product grew only 0.2 percent in
the fourth quarter from three months earlier, a sharp slowdown from 3.2 percent
in the previous quarter.
Key exporters including tech firms and automakers led the falls in the broad
equity index.
The local currency was trading at 1,145.8 won to the U.S. dollar, up 4.2 won from
Monday's close.
