SEVEN AL-QAEDA MEMBERS SENTENCED TO 5-10 YEARS



SANA'A, Jan. 26 (Saba) - A Specialized Penal Court convicted on
Tuesday seven al-Qaeda suspects accusing them of forming an armed
gang to target government and foreign interests in the country.

Judge Muhsin Alwan passed sentences ranging from 5 - 10 years in
prison on the suspects.

The court issued ten-year sentences against Hussein Nasser
al-Marwalah, Mohammed Qasim al-Ghuli, Hani Mohammed al-Alimi and
seven-year sentences against Yousif Mohammed al-Hajaji, Abdullah
Ahmad al-Matari and Amin Abdullah al-Najar.

The seventh suspect was sentenced to five years in prison.

The Prosecution has accused the seven suspects of forming an armed
gang to kidnap tourists and murder military and security leaders in
the capital in addition to attacking foreign, and government
interests in the country.
