YEMEN, UK STUDY FURTHER JOINT SECURITY COOPERATION EXPANSION



LONDON, Jan. 27 (Saba)- Deputy Prime Minister for Defense and
Security Affairs, Minister of Local Administration, Rashad al-Alimi
met on Wednesday with the British Minister of Defense Bob Ainsworth.

They discussed, during the meeting, the bilateral cooperation
between the two friend countries and horizons of improving security
technical support for the Yemeni security apparatuses, topped by
coastguards and counterterrorism forces, in addition to aspects of
training and qualification.

Al-Alimi hailed the United Kingdom for its support dedicated for
development and democracy in Yemen beside its support for the
security efforts in the country, pointed out to the growing level
reached by the Yemeni and UK relations.

Ainsworth, for his part, showed keenness of his country to promote
cooperation with Yemen and support its security capacities in
counterterrorism and combating sea piracy, affirming that Yemen
plays a crucial factor in the region's security.

On the other hand, al-Alimi also met with a number of British
security officials and reviewed with them security cooperation
aspects between Yemen and the UK and means of developing them,
particularly in combating terrorism, in addition to the British
support for Yemen security systems.
