S. Korean FM set for bilateral talks with Australia, Turkey

SEOUL, Jan. 27 (Yonhap) -- South Korean Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan will hold
bilateral talks this week with his Australian and Turkish counterparts in London,
where they will attend an international conference on Afghanistan, foreign
ministry officials said Wednesday.
The South Korean foreign minister was due to arrive in the British capital later
Wednesday following his four-day trip to India, where he accompanied President
Lee Myung-bak on his state visit.
"Minister Yu and Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith will review the
implementation of a joint statement issued by their leaders last year on security
cooperation and discuss ways to further improve cooperation between their
countries in the economic, trade, defense and cultural sectors," a ministry
official said of the meeting scheduled for Thursday.
Yu will also hold a bilateral meeting Thursday with his Turkish counterpart,
Ahmet Davutoglu, on the sidelines of the conference on Afghanistan, to be
attended by foreign ministers and diplomats from some 60 countries, according to
ministry officials.
