NHN Q4 net up 8 pct on increased ad revenue

SEOUL, Jan. 28 (Yonhap) -- NHN Corp., the operator of South Korea's most visited
lnternet search engine, said Thursday that its fourth-quarter earnings rose 8
percent from a year-earlier quarter on higher revenue from on-line ads.

Net income stood at 106.51 billion won (US$92 million) in the three months to
December, compared with 98.73 billion won a year earlier, NHN said in a
regulatory filing. The bottom line is down 0.3 percent from the previous quarter.
Sales climbed 2 percent on-year to 321.3 billion won over the cited period while
operating profit rose 18 percent to 145.68 billion won.
For the fiscal year of 2009, net income surged 16 percent to 420.88 billion won
from a year earlier, with sales advancing 2 percent to 1.24 trillion won, the
company said.
