By Lee Youkyung
SEOUL, Jan. 28 (Yonhap) -- SK Telecom Co., South Korea's largest mobile carrier
by subscribers, said Thursday that its net profit fell 7 percent in the fourth
quarter of last year from a year earlier due to a one-off factor.
Net profit reached 244.24 billion won (US$210.1 million) in the three months to
December, compared with 263.1 billion won a year earlier, SK Telecom said in a
regulatory filing.
Sales rose 3 percent from a year ago to 3.1 trillion won over the cited period,
while operating profits fell 5 percent to 443.15 billion won.
The fourth-quarter net income missed analysts' median forecast of 329.1 billion
won, released by the online financial service company Fn Guide.
Shares of SK Telecom were trading at 186,000 won on the Seoul bourse as of 11:12
a.m., down 0.53 percent from Wednesday's close.
SK Telecom posted 140 billion won in a one-off loss after selling back its 3.8
percent stake in China Unicom Ltd. in November, which pared away its bottom line,
according to analysts.
