N. Korea says American is held after crossing border from China
SEOUL, Jan. 28 (Yonhap) -- North Korea said Thursday an American has "illegally"
crossed the border from China and remains detained for questioning.
The United States embassy in South Korea said it has yet to check the report by
North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency. The two-paragraph report said
the American is undergoing questioning by "related organs" after crossing the
border on Monday.
The report, monitored in Seoul, did not elaborate. If confirmed, the incident
would mark the second crossing by an American into the communist state since a
Korean-American missionary entered it last month calling for better human rights
in the North.
