Lotte Shopping Q4 net drops 18.4 pct

SEOUL, Jan. 28 (Yonhap) -- Lotte Shopping Co., South Korea's second-largest
retailer, said Thursday that its fouth-quarter net income dropped 18.4 percent
from a year earlier.

Net income came to 183.7 billion won (US$158 million) in the October-December
period, compared with 225 billion won a year ago, Lotte Shopping said in a
regulatory filing.
Sales rose 12 percent year-on-year to 3.2 trillion won in the period, and
operating profit advanced 22.2 percent to 260 billion won.
Shares of Lotte Shopping closed down 2.07 percent at 308,000 won on the Korea
Exchange.
For the entire year of 2009, net profit fell 3 percent to 721.5 billion won from
a year ago, and operating profit rose 14.4 percent to 878.5 billion won. Revenue
rose 9.8 percent to 11.5 trillion won.
