Samyang to cut prices of 'ramyeon' instant noodles this week

SEOUL, Jan. 28 (Yonhap) -- Samyang Foods Co., South Korea's No.2 producer of
instant noodles, said Thursday that it will lower the price of its five "ramyeon"
instant noodle products starting this week.

The company will lower the prices of Samyang Ramyeon, its key product, and
Samyang Ramyeon Classic by 6.7 percent and 2.9 percent, respectively, to 700 won
(US$0.61) and 680 won, it said.
The company's five major products account for some 80 percent of its total
ramyeon sales, a Samyang official said.
Nong Shim Co., the country's largest instant noodle maker, is currently looking
into material costs and could also bring down the price of its ramyeon products
in the future.
