Seoul stocks down 1.87 pct late morning

SEOUL, Jan. 29 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 1.87 percent lower late
Friday morning, tracking overnight Wall Street losses, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) plunged 30.77 points to
trade at 1,611.66 won as of 11:20 a.m.
U.S. stocks dropped Thursday as the tech sector was hammered by a weak forecast
from Qualcomm and economic jitters increased.
The Dow Jones industrial average slumped 1.13 percent, and the Nasdaq composite
sank 1.91 percent.
Market bellwether Samsung Electronics led the market lower despite Friday's
release of its strong earnings for the fourth quarter of last year.
The local currency was trading at 1,156.20 won to the U.S. dollar as of 11:20
a.m., down 4.70 won from Thursday's close.
