S. Korea's industrial output grows 33.9 pct. in Dec

SEOUL, Jan. 29 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's industrial output grew for a sixth month
in December, indicating that the economic recovery is gaining more momentum, a
government report showed Friday.

According to the report by Statistics Korea, production in the mining and
manufacturing sectors expanded 33.9 percent last month from a year earlier. The
figure marked the sixth straight month of growth since July when production
turned positive after a protracted slump.
The latest output figure is higher than a 30.8 percent expansion predicted in a
poll conducted by Yonhap Infomax, the financial news arm of Yonhap News Agency.
Production grew 3.5 percent from a month earlier as well, the report showed.
