YEMEN SAYS DRUG ADDICTION GROWING AMONG HOUTHIS

SAADA, Jan. 29 (Saba) - Police in Saada province in north Yemen have seized 3 kg of hashish with a man in his 30s, almotamar.net said on Friday.

The seizure took place in the district of Kitaf, with authorities saying drug addiction has recently skyrocketed among the Houthi insurgents, who have been fighting the national army for more than six years.

Last year, authorities arrested more than 15 people in connection with drugs possession and trade in areas controlled by the rebels.

In the east, police arrested 3 drug dealers in the city of Alshehr, Hadramout.

The arrestees' ages were between 19-40 years old. The arrests took place while the three were trying to sell drugs inside a hotel.

Other three drug dealers, aged 22-23, were caught in the city of Khour Maksar, Aden, according to the Interior Ministry's Information Bureau.

Investigations of the arrested in the three provinces are ongoing, according to the bureau's website.
