S. Korean LPG suppliers to cut gas prices next week
SEOUL, Jan. 29 (Yonhap) -- SK Gas Co. and E1 Corp., South Korea's major suppliers
of liquefied petroleum gas will cut liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices slightly
starting next week due largely to a stronger won, the companies said Friday.
The implementation of a price cut will mean SK and E1 lower the price of propane
distributed to gas stations for household use by 1.1 percent and 0.7 percent,
respectively, from a month ago to 1,085.68 won (US$ 0.94 ) per kilogram and 1,087
won.
The price of butane gas for vehicles supplied by SK and E1 will also fall 1.1
percent and 0.5 percent over the same period to 1,480.07 won and 1,481 won per
kilogram, respectively.
Industry insiders attributed the price fall in the country to the won's
appreciation against the U.S. dollar, in which local LPG suppliers' import bills
are priced.
