Hanjin launches S. Korea's largest cold storage

SEOUL, Feb. 1 (Yonhap) -- Hanjin Corp., the logistics unit of Hanjin Group, said
Monday that it has launched operations at South Korea's largest refrigerated
warehouse, enhancing its competitiveness in the distribution industry.

The refrigerated warehouse, which the company has operated on a pilot basis since
September 2009, keeps food fresh by lowering the percentage of oxygen in the air
and thus decreasing the rate at which crops deteriorate.
The three-story facility, set up on a total area of 1,227 square meters in the
city of Incheon, west of Seoul, has a storage capacity of 10,000 bottles of wine
or 250 tons of fruit, with a temperature-controlled supply chain and cutting-edge
warehouse management system.
Hanjin expects that its competitiveness in the logistics and distribution market
will rise as the full operation of the refrigerated warehouse will enable the
company to better store and ship fresh food.
