Yonhap News begins multilanguage news service at Incheon Int'l airport
SEOUL, Feb. 4 (Yonhap) -- Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's key news agency, has
begun offering multi-language news services at the country's main international
airport, the company said Thursday.
Yonhap News began test-displaying its major news contents in four languages --
Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese -- on three 52-inch liquid crystal display
(LCD) screens inside the baggage claims area at Incheon International Airport,
west of Seoul, from Tuesday, the company said.
Visitors to South Korea can see the major and real-time news items moved by the
company upon arrival. The screens also display flight transit information and
other flash announcements from the airport.
The company plans to run the service for about three to six months before
installing more such screens at other crowded areas inside the airport.
U.S.-based news broadcaster CNN, through a partnership with LG Electronics Inc.,
provides news services in 38 airports in the United States, while Japan's Kyodo
News is also preparing to provide multilanguage news services at Tokyo's Haneda
Airport.
Yonhap News is a leading media organization in South Korea that has built a
global news-gathering network with more than 40 correspondents abroad -- the
largest worldwide team for a South Korean media company.
