YEMENI-SAUDI PREPARATORY COMMITTEE TO MEET IN RIYADH

RIYADH, Feb.04 (Saba) - The Yemeni ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohamed al-Ahwal said on Thursday that the preparatory committee for the 19th session of the Yemeni-Saudi Coordination Council would hold its meetings in Riyadh on February 25 to prepare for the session's agenda.

In a statement published by Okaz newspaper today, al-Ahwal pointed that infrastructure and developmental projects are being completed in Yemen, for which the kingdom had provided funding of $ 1billion in 2006, under the supervision of the Saudi Development Fund for five years ending by 2011.

He noted the achievements achieved by the Coordination Council to serve the human development in Yemen since its establishment.

The ambassador pointed that the Saudi Cabinet's confirmation on Monday to support Yemen to face the economic, developmental and security challenges is a great position recorded for the King Abdullah and the Saudi government and people.

Al-Ahwal indicated that the Kingdom has been and remains a strong and influential partner for Yemen in the war against terrorism and al-Qaeda, noting that the security victories achieved against the rebel groups were due to the cooperation between Yemen and the Kingdom.

He considered the Riyadh conference on Yemen, to be held this month, a new and important pillar added to a series of the Kingdom's supportive positions to Yemen, pointing out that the conference would be held at the ministerial level with participation of the countries that attended the London conference last week.
