POSCO may change directors at Friday's board meeting
POSCO-board meeting
SEOUL, Feb. 4 (Yonhap) -- POSCO, the world's fourth-largest steelmaker, may call
for changes in its board of directors during a meeting set for later in the week,
company sources said Thursday.
One or two directors out of the six-member standing board may be replaced with
new people during Friday's board meeting, speculated sources, who declined to be
identified.
While stressing that nothing has been decided yet, the sources said that the
terms of four members will end this month, allowing a reshuffle to take place.
The directors whose terms are up are POSCO E&C Chairman Yoon Seok-man, POSCO
President Lee Dong-hee, and Chung Keel-sou and Hur Nam-suk, both senior vice
presidents at the steelmaker.
In addition, the board could evaluate POSCO Chairman Chung Joon-yang's leadership
for the past year and make decisions on future plans for the company.
Meanwhile, the company said that it will hold a general meeting of shareholders
on Feb. 26 that could implement sweeping changes among senior managers in the
company.
