Hyundai Merchant Mine suffers 806 bln won loss last year
SEOUL, Feb. 5 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Merchant Marine Co., South Korea's
second-largest shipper, said Friday that it suffered a loss last year on falling freight rates and decreased trade volume worldwide.
Net loss amounted to 806 billion won (US$689 million) last year, compared with a
profit of 677 billion won a year earlier, the company said.
Sales dropped 23.6 percent to 6.12 trillion won over the cited period. Hyundai
Merchant logged an operating loss of 565 billion won, it said.
Hyundai Merchant said it expects to post sales of 7.14 trillion won this year,
and operating income of 336 billion won.
Shares of Hyundai Merchant were trading at 28,800 won on the Seoul bourse as of
2:02 p.m., down 1.37 percent.
