UNHCR AND JOURNALISTS DISCUSS CONDITION OF REFUGEES



SANA'A, Feb. 06 (Saba)- The United Nations High Commissioner for
Refugees (UNHCR) office in Yemen and Yemeni journalists discussed on
Saturday issues related to the Somali refugees in Yemen.

In a meeting organized by the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate, the
journalists discussed professional aspect in writing about Somali
refugees and their conditions.

Senior official of protection at the UNHCR office Samar Hadad
reviewed efforts and services of the UNHCR for the refugees, saying
that the support of the UNHCR is limited and doesn't meet need of
refugees.

He highlighted efforts exerted by Yemen to receive refugees and
offer shelter for them, affirming concern of the UNHCR with
partnership with the Yemeni government to offer humanitarian
services for refugees.

A file holder of refugees at Yemen's foreign minister Esam
al-Mahbashi reviewed activities of the national committee of
refugees' affairs, saying that the government has shouldered burdens
of refugees since twenty years ago.
