Seoul shares open lower on tech, financial falls
SEOUL, Feb. 8 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks got off to a weak start Monday as
drops among large-cap tech and financial shares drove down the key index,
analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) shed 2.84 points, or 0.18
percent, to 1,564.28 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Foreign investors engaged in sell-offs of tech and financial shares. Market
heavyweight Samsung Electronics sank 0.5 percent and top financial service
company KB Financial Group shed 0.2 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,173.45 won to the greenback as of 9:15 a.m.,
down 3.55 won from Friday's close
