S. Korea offers delivery guarantee for EMS to France, Singapore
SEOUL, Feb. 8 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's postal service started offering delivery
guarantees for international express mail services (EMS) to France and Singapore
on Monday, a measure to lower postal delivery costs for local users, the postal
agency said.
Korea Post said the new service, about 40 percent cheaper than other types of
guarantee delivery systems, came after it reached cooperation agreements with
France's la Poste and Singapore Post.
"For example, an exporting company that used to pay 50 million won a year to ship
products to France on a regular basis in the past could save 20 million won by
utilizing the new EMS delivery system," a press release said.
Delivery guarantee EMS refers to a mailing and parcel delivery system that
guarantees on-time delivery of items or full repayment of fees. It is frequently
used by companies that require prompt and timely delivery of goods and samples to
potential buyers.
At present, the Korean postal service only offered guaranteed EMS delivery to
Japan, China, the United States, Hong Kong, Australia, Britain and Spain.
The latest measure increases the proportion of delivery guaranteed EMS services
offered from 76 percent at present to 80 percent. The remaining 20 percent of EMS
mails are not guaranteed on-time delivery.
