Seoul share trade 0.54 pct up in late morning
SEOUL, Feb. 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks traded 0.54 percent higher late Tuesday morning as institutional investors increased holdings of bank and financial shares, lending support to the key index, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) advanced 8.4 points to
1,561.19 as of 11:20 a.m.
Bank and financial shares rebounded as institutional investors hunted for
bargains after they were hit hard by European sovereign debt concerns. Top
financial services company KB Financial Group shot up more than 5 percent.
The local currency was trading at 1,165.75 won to the greenback as of 11:20 a.m.,
up 6.15 won from Monday's close.
