S. Korea orders Toyota to recall Prius

SEOUL, Feb. 9 (Yonhap) -- Toyota Motor Corp. was ordered to recall hundreds of
Prius hybrid vehicles in South Korea due to problems with the car's braking
system that led to a global recall of the popular model by the Japanese carmaker,
government officials said Tuesday.
Subject to the recall in South Korea are 510 Prius cars, including about 30 units
imported by individuals, the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs
said in a statement.
The vehicles were produced and sold in South Korea between Feb. 26, 2009 and Jan.
27, 2010, the ministry said.
It was not immediately known whether there have been any injuries in South Korea
directly related to the defects in the braking system of the Prius.
Toyota's Korean unit will offer a free repair for Prius owners from Feb. 16,
according to the statement.
