CENTURY FUNDS FLOW TO 63 BANKS

Jakarta, Feb 9 (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Financial Transaction Analysis and Report Center (PPATK) Yunus Husein said Bank Century funds amounting to Rp6.7 trillion flowed to the customers' accounts at 63 different banks.

"There were 63 banks which were linked with the funds transactions," Yunus Husein said in his explanations in front of the House Century Inquiry Committee at the parliament building here on Tuesday.

On the occasion, he was explaining the investigation developments and transactions analysis of Bank Century. He said PPATK had provided the inquiry committee with a number of data.

Husein said that the funds were transfered from Bank Century through different transaction systems. There were customers who withdrew their funds from Bank Century to other banks using the same names. But there were also who used different names. Others transfered the money to institutions or companies.

The PPATK has also traced funds recipients' names which were the same as the names of state officials. But the PPATK did not find any indications that the funds at Bank Century had been disbursed using a power of attorney.

"Such a disbursement (using authorized letters) is, of course, possible but we did not find one because our investigation is based on a system," he said.

The PPATK once again met with the committee to discuss the flow and transactions of funds and the investigation of Bank Century's assets.

At the meeting with the Inquiry Committee, which was chaired by Idrus Marham, Yunus Husein said based on its request, the PPATK had handed over to the committee a number of data which is related to the Bank Century case.

Data provided included recapitulation of the results of transactions analysis with regard to Bank Century and its owner Robert Tantular, detail on the investigation of Bank Century assets overseas and the list of 50 big depositors of Bank Century.
